Mushroom, Brie & Fig Sandwich

Three of the most memorable items on the menu I enjoyed alot during my first meal in Cape Town was these dishes. Surprisingly, the peach ice tea was not as sweet as I thought and delightful to drink. Its even better than what we get here... unless we water down the ones here more?! its a thought, huh?

The pan-fried mushroom open-face sandwich is such a winner. The creamy sauce with nothing much but cream, salt, pepper and I suspect, parsley, makes this soooooo delicious. Its so simple in seasoning yet so full of flavour. With the fresh toast and crunchy rocket leaves, it really cuts the heaviness of the cream. Sooooo good, even better for a mushroom junkie like me. Hehe.

My neighbor ordered a sandwich I was not brave enough to order coz u never know the portion of your food when u travel to one of these places, do u? Glad she was brave enough to do so as I have a great time downing what she can't finish. Hahahaha!!! The layers of flavor in this sandwich is fantastic. L A Y E R S ! Its exactly how I thought it'll taste. But I think its not for everyone... BUT I *HEART* IT SOOOOOOO!

Another interesting dish, interesting to me at least since I know many are not a fan of gizzards. I try not to eat too much for health reasons as well but I had to try it n ended up ordering it twice (ON SEPERATE OCCASIONS LA!!!) here at Greens. The Chicken Liver w Chilli Pasta. It is done like an Aglio Olio but with chicken liver pieces. I must say... if u like gizzards, its quite good. They were quite generous with the livers too. A bit too much in fact. But still... I felt like I should share it with you, to me, its a love or hate relationship, ooops i mean dish.
